Healing The Past, Empowering The Present, Creating The Future

People often assume that to change and overcome one's limitations is necessarily slow, difficult and painful; that therapy, like childhood medicine, is something that has to be endured but it does you good. No gain without pain, as they say. However, I have learned from my experience that this is not necessarily true. I have discovered that change can be surprisingly swift and easy, as well as deep and pervasive; that therapy can be enjoyable, immediately rewarding and create lasting change. I believe it is possible to heal even the deepest emotional and psychological wounds, however old they are. Doing this empowers individuals to move beyond their limitations, start to realise their true potential in life and create a more and harmonious and fulfilling future.

My greatest satisfaction comes from seeing clients leave, not just with a better understanding of themselves and their problems, but with old issues finally resolved, tangible changes and benefits in their lives, and the tools to creatively meet life's challenges.

The kind of Psychotherapy I practise

Although I originally trained in Client Centred Counselling and then Neuro-Linguistic Psychotherapy, my approach is eclectic. I am interested in what works most simply and directly to help clients resolve conflict and pain within themselves and to overcome whatever is limiting them and holding them back in their lives. Thus NLP Psychotherapy as I practise it, incorporates elements from a number of different approaches including: Time Line Therapy, Solution-Focussed Therapy, Ericksonian Hypnosis and Cognitive Therapy. With a background in Buddhist Mindfulness Meditation I have also integrated various Mindfulness related practices into my work, such as Focussing and Releasing; these simple methods can be taught to clients as tools for life, allowing them to develop a greater awareness of emotional states, how they are held in the body, and how to let them go.

How can this approach help?

NLP Psychotherapy is a gentle and highly effective means for dealing with personal issues in a wide variety of areas. These may include, for example:

  • Anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Building confidence and self esteem
  • Assertiveness
  • Post traumatic stress disorder
  • Phobias and compulsive behaviour
  • Bereavement
  • Stress management
  • Exam or interview nerves
  • Emotional problems
  • Relationship issues
